Project overview
The “Update of the Current Liquid Fuel Monitoring System in Greece” project, initiated on June 1, 2017, and completed on June 30, 2018, was a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of Greece’s fuel monitoring capabilities. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance, this project sought technical assistance from the Structural Reform Support Service (SRSS) to update and expand the existing monitoring system from covering only gas stations to including all fixed fuel storages across the country.

Project focus
The primary focus of the project was to standardize the data collection process and formats for all fixed fuel storages, thereby harmonizing the monitoring and reporting across the fuel supply chain. This required substantial technical upgrades and system extensions, necessitating the expertise of skilled IT engineers to support the General Secretariat for Information Systems (GSIS).

Our role
We played a critical role in the project’s success by providing Exploitation Management services. Our company was responsible for coordinating the entire project, ensuring all activities were executed smoothly and effectively. Furthermore, we contributed significantly to exploiting the project results, maximizing the impact and benefits of the updated system.

Outcome and added value
The project achieved its objectives within the designated timeframe, delivering several key outcomes that have added substantial value to the Ministry of Finance and the GSIS. These outcomes include:

Comprehensive registry implementation: A new registry was developed and deployed, encompassing all types of fixed fuel tanks, which ensures a more comprehensive monitoring system.
Enhanced communication: The establishment of web services facilitated seamless communication between tank systems and the central GSIS database, improving data accuracy and timeliness.
System porting: The existing Liquid Fuel monitoring system, initially supporting only gas stations, was successfully ported to the new registry, enhancing its functionality and scope.
Broadened access: System access was extended to multiple ministries beyond the Ministry of Finance, supported by a robust role-based access control mechanism, thereby improving inter-ministerial coordination and oversight.
Support and maintenance: Continuous support for additional analysis and programming tasks was provided, ensuring the system’s adaptability and responsiveness to evolving requirements.

Our contribution was pivotal in harmonizing the fuel monitoring system, leading to improved data accuracy, better resource management, and enhanced operational capabilities for the Ministry of Finance and GSIS. This project stands as a testament to our expertise in managing and executing large-scale IT initiatives, demonstrating their ability to deliver tangible value and lasting impact.
